Day 2: Thurs., Sept. 22 – New York, NY – This morning, we travel through the Lincoln Tunnel to New York City and meet our local guide for a unique tour of Harlem. Enjoy lunch at the Red Rooster, which serves comfort food and celebrates the cultural roots of this diverse community.  Almost a city onto itself, Harlem is one of the most famous neighborhoods in the world. Founded by the Dutch in 1658, Harlem was once farmland, and later, the center of New York City’s African American culture.  Our guided tour explores the changing face of Harlem, with a special focus on the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s. For the next 3 nights our home is the Hotel Edison, an historic New York City hotel building constructed in 1931 where Thomas Edison turned on the lights when it opened. It is in the heart of midtown and walking distance to Times Square and the Theater District. Enjoy dinner this evening at Carmines, in the heart of the Theatre District. (B & D)

Day 3: Fri., Sept. 23 – Today we discover Manhattan from Battery Park to Columbus Circle with a full day of touring with our local guide.  Within these borders are some of the world’s most famous places including, The Empire State Building, Central Park, the World Trade Centre and the 911 Memorial.  This afternoon, our visits include the Chelsea Market, considered one of the best food markets in NCY, followed by entrance to the Empire State Building Observatory for a view of the skyline 1,250 feet above the city.  We will also make a stop at the 911 Memorial, a national tribute in remembrance of 9/11.  The Memorial is a tribute to the past and a place of hope for the future.  This evening we will enjoy a pre-theatre dinner, followed by an evening Broadway performance.  We will confirm which performance closer to departure based on availability.  (B & D)

Day 4: Sat., Sept. 24 – This morning we embark on a Midtown and Downtown Tasting and Sightseeing program. This is a unique way to see and experience Little Italy, Hell’s Kitchen, Greenwich and the Lower East Side.  Throughout the tour we will sample a variety of ethnic treats both on and off the coach.   This afternoon there will be free time to explore the city on your own.   You may wish to spend some time in Central Park, shop on 5th Avenue or visit one of the attractions or neighbourhoods not included with our guide.  We return to the hotel in time to get ready for dinner on board the beautiful Hornblower Yacht which gives us an opportunity to view the city skyline from the water. (B, L & D)

Day 5: Sun., Sept. 25 – On our last morning in Manhattan, we visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a guided highlights tour of the permanent collection as well as some free time to explore on your own, prior to starting our journey home with an overnight stay in Albany, New York. (B & D)
