Maritime Sampler – The Hidden Gems of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia including the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo

Tentative Itinerary:

Day 1: Thurs., June 22 – Today we will fly to Moncton, N.B.  This afternoon we will visit the Hopewell Rocks where you may have an opportunity to walk on the ocean floor if the tide is low. See where the world’s highest tides have gouged four-story sculptures from the cliffs.  Moncton will be our home for our 2-night stay.  (D)

Day 2: Fri., June 23 – Today we will embrace the Acadian culture of New Brunswick.  Your first stop this morning will be the Visitor Information Centre beside Bore Park, downtown Moncton.   The famous Tidal Bore caused by the Bay of Fundy tides occurs twice daily. Then we are off to Shediac for a scenic boat cruise and Lobster dinner (Alternative meals available) on the gentle waters of Shediac Bay with the Cormier Family.   (B & Lobster D)

Day 3: Sat., June 24 – Once only accessible by ferry, today we arrive on Prince Edward Island via the Confederation Bridge, the world’s longest continuous multi-span bridge.  This afternoon with the help of our Step-on Guide we will learn about Province House and historic Charlottetown.  We will check into our downtown hotel in Charlottetown for a 2-night stay.  Tonight enjoy an early evening dinner and then venture to the Confederation Centre of the Arts for a theatre performance. Day 4: Sun., June 25 – This morning is at your leisure.  This afternoon visit Green Gables, the house immortalized by Lucy Maud Montgomery in her “Anne” books.  Spend time in Prince Edward Island National Park, renowned for its red sandstone cliffs, rolling sand dunes and lush green fields.  A traditional PEI lobster supper is included this evening. Day 5: Mon., June 26 – This morning we will take the ferry from Wood Islands to Caribou, Nova Scotia.  There will be free time to explore the town of Pictou during your lunch hour.  In the afternoon we will travel to Baddeck on Cape Breton Island.  A visit to the Alexander Graham Bell Historic Site is planned for midafternoon before checking into our hotel.  (B & D)

Day 6: Tues., June 27 – Today we will explore the Cabot Trail, with many photo stops along the way – be sure to bring your camera. Known world-wide for its spectacular scenery, the Cabot Trail is circular and takes travelers along the rugged seacoast and through lofty mountains.  We will be staying in Sydney for 2 nights.(B, Box Lunch & D)

Day 7: Wed., June 28 – Start your day with a visit to Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, home to the historic jewel, the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site.  During the summer months hundreds of re-enactors or “animators” of all ages, from wealthy merchants to poor soldiers, populate the streets of the restored fortress working, playing, and living life as they would have in 1744.  From Louisbourg, your next stop is the Glace Bay Miner’s Museum, where you will enjoy lunch before starting your tour. Return to your hotel to unwind for the evening. (B & L)

Day 8: Thurs., June 29 – Your day begins with a visit to Rita MacNeil’s Tea Room and Gift House in Big Pond, a 45-minute drive from your hotel.  Take some time to enjoy refreshments in the surroundings of this quaint community, home to Cape Breton’s First Lady of Song, the legendary Rita MacNeil.  Cross the Canso Causeway to continue your journey to mainland Nova Scotia enoute to Halifax.  Then we will check into the beautiful Westin Hotel for our 3-night stay.  (B)

Day 9: Fri., June 30 – Today we will explore the South Shore with our Step-on Guide visiting the historic fishing towns of Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and Peggy’s Cove. Lunenburg was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 and is home to the Bluenose II.  (B & D)

Day 10: Sat., July 1 – CANADA  DAY!!  HAPPY 155st BIRTHDAY!!

This morning enjoy an overview tour of this historic port city, the capital of Nova Scotia with your Step on Guide.  You will visit The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, Canada’s national museum of immigration.  This afternoon we will attend a performance of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, the largest indoor show in the world.  You will hear and see military bands, pipes and drums, choirs, gymnasts, dancers, military displays and competitions which offer the most exciting 2 ½ hours of entertainment ever found under one roof.  This evening enjoy all the Canada Day Festivities that Halifax has to offer on Canada’s official birthday!  Our hotel is perfectly located within easy walking distance of the Boardwalk.  (B)

Day 11: Sun., July 2 – Today we must pack our suitcases for the airport.  This morning we will depart with many fond memories for the Halifax Stanfield International Airport for our return flight to Pearson International Airport.  Our coach will be waiting to return us to our original departure points.  (B)

An initial deposit of $1500.00 is required at time of booking. The balance is due in full by May 1, 2023.
