The internationally recognized RBG Rock Garden reopened in May of 2016 after a three-year, $20-million rejuvenation project. The original Rock Garden was a Depression-era project that transformed an abandoned gravel pit into a majestic bowl using 10,000 tons of limestone and 45,000 perennial plants. It is now considered one of North America’s top five garden experience destinations. It has fully accessible paths, extensive water features, three new garden areas and a visitor centre with café.
