A Quilters Holiday – Pennsylvania Patchwork

For the past 13 years we have been offering a Quilting tour open to all ladies who love to quilt, enjoy handiwork and enjoy the comradery of women who enjoy life and like to have fun. It is a few days of retail therapy, great food and interesting local attractions. 

Tentative itinerary: 

Day 1: Mon., May 9 – The tour will depart from Orillia at 7:00a.m, Barrie, Bayfield Mall behind Canadian Tire Store at 7:30a.m. & Tour Office at 8:00a.m. A free shuttle van service is available with a minimum of 6 customers in the Collingwood, Creemore, Stayner area upon request and transferred to meet the coach in Barrie. Overnight parking is available at our Tour Office. A Canadian Passport will be required for the border crossing into the USA. We will allow time for duty free shopping. Today we travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for our overnight stay at the Best Western Country Cupboard Hotel. 

Day 2: Tues., May 10 – This morning following breakfast we will depart for In Stitches Quilt & Fabric Shop in Womelsdorf. After lunch we plan to visit Burkholder’s Fabrics located in Lebanon. This afternoon we will check into the Fulton Steamboat Inn, Lancaster’s most unqiue hotel. Shaped like a riverboat, the Fulton Steamboat Inn is name for Robert Fulton, founder of steam propelled riverboats, who was born in Lancaster. Lovely Victorian themed décor and gracious hospitality await you at the Fulton Steamboat Inn. We will meet our local guide and travel to Lititz to Elva’s Studio. Enjoy a presentation reviving the old art of chalk talk, a fun, motivational and inspiring event you’ll never forget. This evening we will be welcomed into a real Amish home as their guests for an authentic Amish meal. Enjoy their kind and gracious hospitality as the family serves you a delicious Penn Dutch feast. Day 3: Wed., May 11 – Following breakfast we will meet our local guide and travel to Stitch & Craft Fabric Store located in Manheim. Then it is off to experience a Victorian High Tea in the Historic Mount Hope Mansion. Before meeting Daisy Grubb, the former owner of the estate, her friends will give the group a lesson in etiquette. Throughout the tea with Miss Daisy, the group will learn about the history of tea time, as well as of the mansion. This afternoon we will visit 2 possibly 3 Fabric Shops, they will include Mook’s Fabrics in Leola, Obie’s Country Store in Goodville and Good’s General Store in East Earl. Dinner tonight will be at Shady Maple Smorgasbord. After feasting on the all-you-can-eat smorgasbord, there will be time to explore their gigantic 41,000 square foot gift shop located on the lower level. The gift shop showcases hundreds of unique gift items including collectibles, candles and Amish-crafted furniture. (B, L & D) 

Day 4: Thurs., May 12 – This morning we will tour the Amish Farmlands with our local guide. See the pristine Amish farms, one-room schoolhouses, wind wheels, Amish “phone booths” and farmers working the fields with their horse or mule-drawn plows. We will visit a local Amish Quilt & Craft Shop. No visit to the area would be complete without a stop at Kitchen Kettle Village in the village of Intercourse. There will be time to visit Zook’s Dry Goods & The Old County Store, 2 of our favourite stores in town over the lunch hour. This afternoon we will attend the 3:00p.m. performance of David at the Sight & Sound Theatre. Master Poet. Fearless Warrior. Anointed King. After unprecedented victories lead to devastating failures, this passionate warrior will face the biggest battle of all: the one within himself. Experience one of the most legendary Bible stories as it comes to life in this brand-new stage production from Sight & Sound Theatres.This evening dinner will be at Millers Smorgasbord – A family-owned tradition of good food and exceptional service since 1929. Day 5: Fri., May 13 – A group breakfast will be served at the hotel before departing for Hershey. We will visit TLC Quilting Shop at Middletown in the morning. We will visit Hershey World where you can enjoy a simulated factory tour ride that takes you from the harvesting of cocoa beans to the production of Hershey’s chocolate. Lunch will be on your own. This afternoon we head north to Rochester, New York for our overnight stay at the Hampton Inn. (B) 

Day 6: Sat., May 14 – This morning following breakfast we will depart for home. We will include stops at JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts and Hobby Lobby in Niagara Falls before crossing the border. We will stop for duty free shopping & meal breaks enroute home. Return to Bradford at approximately 5:00p.m, Barrie at 5:30p.m. & Orillia at 6:00p.m. (B) 

Tour includes: motor coach transportation with Hamilton Tours Director, 5 nights hotel & taxes, baggage handling, 5 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 3 dinners, visits to 10 Quilt & Fabric Stores, local guided tours as listed in the itinerary, gratuity for our step on guides, Sight & Sound theatre ticket, duty free shopping & HST EXEMPT. A finalized list of Quilt & Fabric Stores will be provided one month prior to the tour. 

Cost per person: Twin $1648.00 & Single $2128.00
A deposit of $600.00 is required at the time of booking, with the balance due in full by April 4, 2022. 

Travel Insurance is available through our office at the time of booking at an additional charge
