Thursday, April 6 to Tuesday, April 11, 2017 – Chicago International Quilt Festival Tour
The International Quilt Festival Chicago is a 3-day event held at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Chicago, IL. This event showcases product from the Knitting & Stitching industry. The exhibitors of International Quilt Festival Chicago will exhibit the latest and advanced products and services including antique quilts, new quilts, antique tops, new tops, quilt blocks, quilting supplies, patterns, kits, books, quilt and needlework gift items, baskets, rugs, antique linens and laces, reproduction linens and laces, folk art items, quilt prints and paper goods, sewing supplies, quilt racks and frames, wearable art, pillows, and antique beads.
Day 1:  Thurs., April 6 - The tour will depart from Midland (with 10 or more passengers) at 6:30a.m., Barrie, Bayfield Mall behind Canadian Tire at 7:30a.m. & the Tour Office at 8:00a.m. (Overnight parking is available at the Tour Office).
Remember to bring with you your Valid Canadian Passport for the border crossing into the USA. Please keep this document with you and be prepared to present it at the border.   We will be crossing into the States at the Blue Water Bridge – Sarnia/Port Huron. 
We will visit RMC Quilt Store after lunch – they specialize in wide back fabrics and Pellon batting.  We then continue on to Lansing, Michigan for our overnight stay at the Radisson Hotel.
Day 2: Fri., April 7 - This morning we begin our day with a hearty breakfast buffet at the hotel before departing for Chicago.  We will check into our hotel, the Crowne Plaza Hotel close to the Rosemont Convention Center in the early afternoon.  The balance of the day will be spent attending the Chicago Quilt Show.  This evening dinner is on your own at the hotel. Day 3: Sat., April 8 - Our day begins with breakfast at the hotel before walking across the Street to the convention centre.  Your day is free to enjoy the Quilt Show at your leisure.
Tonight enjoy a group dinner at a favorite restaurant near the hotel. (B & D)
Day 4: Sun., April 9 - Today experience the highlights of the city during a “What’s New & Renewed” tour.  Discover Chicago’s cutting-edge role in architecture and design since its early years in the 1800’s. We will visit the John Hancock Tower’s “360 Chicago”, Chicago’s only open-air observatory high above Michigan Avenue with a view of four states and the sparkling lake and indescribable views of Chicago. 
Enjoy, a massive new Italian Emporium. Discover incredible Italian culinary options from sit-down restaurants, prepared food to take home and incredible Italian products to inspire your own culinary efforts.  
Visit Millennium Park with its stunning outdoor art including Cloud Gate-affectionately known as “The Bean”.  Enjoy Chicago-style pizza for lunch at a favourite restaurant in the Gold Coast area.
This afternoon we will visit the Art Institute of Chicago to explore their extensive Textile Collection, plus favorite artworks from every era. Trip Advisor named the Art Institute – the “Best Museum in the World” in 2014!
This evening, discover Chicago’s notorious past, and the colorful Era of Prohibition as we experience Tommy Gun’s Garage, Chicago’s only original Speakeasy Dinner Theater. You will be transported back to the 1920's complete with the gangsters and flappers, roaring twenties music, silent movies, and memorabilia.  (B, L & D)
Day 5: Mon., April 10 - Today we will begin our journey homeward bound. There will be time for a little Retail Therapy as we will include 2 Quilt shops along the way.  We will be staying at the Best Western Executive Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan. Our day will end with a group dinner.  (B & D)        
Day 6: Tues., April 11 - This morning we begin our journey home, stopping at the duty free and crossing at Port Huron, arriving in Barrie at approximately 8:30p.m. & Midland at 9:30p.m. (B)
Tour includes: motor coach transportation with Hamilton Tours Director, 5 nights hotel & taxes, baggage handling, 5 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners, 1 dinner theatre, 2 day pass for the Quilt Show, attractions, guided tours as listed in the itinerary, duty free shopping & HST EXEMPT. 
Cost per person: Twin $1750.00 & Single $2270.00
A deposit of $500.00 is required at the time of booking, with the balance due in full by March 1, 2017. 
Travel Insurance is available through our office at the time of booking at an additional charge. 

 
 


PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP:

A Valid Canadian Passport
- the best form of Identification

As of June 1, 2009, a Valid Canadian passport is required for those travelling to the United States by land, air or cruise ship.

Canadian Residents Holding non-Canadian Passports: Upon entry into the USA by land, you must fill out Form I-94, and pay $6 US per person. Upon your return to Canada, the form must be presented to the customs office as proof that you have left the USA.

Hamilton Tours staff advise passengers of their travel document requirements, but we will not be responsible for passengers denied access to the US, or for re-entry into Canada. If this happens, you will be responsible for your own transportation home.

To facilitate border crossing, please keep your identification on your person.
