Wednesday, September 19 to Monday, September 24, 2018 - Lancaster, Pennsylvania - 6 days – Bonnets, Buggies & Back Roads featuring the show Jesus at the Sight and Sound Theatre
Day 1: Wed., Sept. 19 - The tour will depart from Orillia at 7:00a.m., Barrie, Bayfield Mall behind Canadian Tire Store at 7:30a.m. & Tour Office at 8:00a.m. (Overnight parking is available at our office) A shuttle van will be picking up customers in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach & Elmvale (with a minimum of 6 passengers) upon request and transferred to meet the coach in Barrie. Remember to bring your Canadian Passport for the border crossing into the USA. We will travel to Lewisburg, Penn and stay overnight at the Best Western Country Cupboard Inn. This evening we will have a group buffet dinner and free time for browsing in the shops. (D)
Day 2: Thurs., Sept. 20 - Following breakfast we will depart for Lancaster County. Our first stop will be at the Rockvale Shopping Outlets for lunch and free time for shopping. Restaurant choices include Subway, Bob Evans, Ruby Tuesday, Olive Garden & Cracker Barrel. This afternoon we will attend the production of “Songs of the Silver Screen” at the American Music Theatre. Movie buffs of all ages will delight in this new, original production. Enjoy live performances from the AMT cast and band as they bring you the biggest hits from movies past and present.
We will check into the Heritage Hotel, our home for the next 3 nights located at 500 Centerville Road in Lancaster following the performance. We will enjoy a plated dinner in a most impressive Loxley’s Restaurant built around a tree with ambient lighting on natural wood walls adding a feel of natural splendor. This will be a dining experience that will leave you amazed. (B & D)
Day 3: Fri., Sept. 21 - Following a buffet breakfast we will depart for a guided tour of Lititz. Lancaster County’s Sweet Spot, is a stunning cultural melting pot of historic country charm and sophisticated urban flair. Founded in 1756 by Count Nicholas von Zinzendorf, who also had founded the modern day Moravian Church, the town was named after a Bavarian castle known as Litice. These buildings now harbor many of Lititz’s unique boutiques, shops and taverns giving way to shopping and dining experiences that prove impossible to forget. Highlights today will include Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery where during the tour you will get a hands-on lesson in pretzel twisting and receive a small sample bag of pretzels baked by America’s original pretzel-baking family. Next a stop at Wilbur Chocolate Store. Walk in and take a deep breath, and smell the chocolate aroma throughout the store. You can also watch candy makers create delicious fudge featuring a variety of flavors! There will be free time for lunch on your own in this historic and charming small town appeal with upscale and sophisticated urban flair. An oasis from our box store and chain restaurant society with a myriad of eclectic and creative, independently owned shops, intimate cafes and unique and memorable fine dining.
This afternoon we will depart for Elva’s Studio where we will enjoy a presentation reviving the old art of chalk talk. This is a fun, motivational and inspiring event you’ll never forget, complete with colored lights and ultra violet black light show which creates beautiful effects on the artwork. You have to see it to believe it!
We will return to the hotel to relax and refresh before going out to dinner at the beautiful and upscale Stockyard Inn Restaurant. We need to pre-order your choice of Entrée when booking this trip: Broiled Salmon Fillet with Chardonnay Sauce or Slow Roasted Angus Petite Prime Rib or Chicken Savannah. (B & D)
Day 4: Sat., Sept. 22 - Today with our local guide we will explore the Amish Farmlands including a stop at an Amish Quilt & Craft Store. Enjoy picturesque scenery as you meander across country roads where time seems to stand still. See the pristine Amish farms, one-room schoolhouses, Amish “phone booths” and farmers working the fields with their horse or mule-drawn plows. There will be free time to stroll the 42 shops & Restaurants in Kitchen Kettle Village in the town of Intercourse over the noon hour. A visit to the area would not be complete without attending a performance at the spectacular Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre. This afternoon we will enjoy the production of “Jesus”. We have excellent orchestra level seats for the 3:00p.m. show. “Jesus” is the action packed musical stage adventure that takes you on a miraculous journey alongside the most famous person to ever walk the earth, and the everyday people whose lives he changed forever. Dinner will be served at Good n Plenty Restaurant - Their name says it all - good food and plenty of it! (B & D)
Day 5: Sun., Sept. 23 - Following breakfast we will depart for Rochester, New York. We will tour the Strong Museum & Butterfly House before checking into our hotel. (B)
Day 6: Mon., Sept. 24 - Following breakfast there will be some free time for shopping at one of Rochester’s beautiful malls before departing for home. We will stop for coffee & meal breaks and duty free shopping as we make our way back to Canada. Return to the Tour Office at approximately 5:30p.m. & Barrie at 6:00p.m. (B)
