Tuesday, July 24 to Wednesday, August 8, 2018 – Scotland - Highlands, Islands, Cities and Lochs including the Edinburgh Tattoo

This is small group tour limited to 30 passengers. What makes Scotland unique? Is it their love of kilts and bagpipes? Maybe it is the monster at the bottom of the loch, or the prickly plant that is their national symbol.  It could be the
magnificent scenery and rich history, that is as fascinating as it is complex. Or perhaps it is the more personal connection
that many people around the world share as part of their ancestry and heritage. Join us as we explore a land that has
been seen by many including Vikings, Romans, and Great Explorers and the remnants they left behind as signs of their presence.

Tentative Itinerary:

Day 1: Tues., July 24 - Our coach will transfer us from Barrie, Bayfield Mall behind the Canadian Tire Store and the Tour Office for our shuttle to Pearson International Airport. (Overnight parking is available at our office) A shuttle van will be picking up customers in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach & Elmvale (with a minimum of 6 passengers) upon request and transferred to meet the coach in Barrie.  Remember to bring your Canadian Passport for identification at the airport. 
We will be flying on Air Transat for our overnight flight to Glasgow.

Day 2: Wed., July 25 - This morning, we arrive in Glasgow and meet our coach and driver. There will be free time in the afternoon to explore the City. We will check in to the Novotel hotel for an overnight stay.  (D)

Day 3: Thurs., July 26 - Today we start our journey north travelling along the shores of Loch Lomond. We will visit Inveraray Castle, located on Loch Fyne and the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell.  This afternoon, learn about Rob Roy and the Jacobite History as we enjoy an informative and scenic cruise on Loch Lomond.  This evening we will check into the Bridge of Orchy Hotel, our home for the next 2 nights. An evening dinner will conclude our day.  (B & D)

Day 4: Fri., July 27 - After breakfast we depart for Mallaig, a bustling fishing port and ferry terminal, also known as the Road to the Isles.  We will make a stop at Glenfinnan to view the monument which commemorates the supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie.  This afternoon we will board the Jacobite Steam Train for our journey to Fort William.  The train will be of special interest to Harry Potter movie fans as it was the infamous Hogwarts Express.  (B & D)

Day 5: Sat., July 28 - This morning we travel to the Oban. Enjoy free time in this quaint Victorian town followed by the afternoon sailing to the Isle of Mull, part of the Inner Hebrides. Our home for the next three nights will be the Isle of Mull Hotel.  (B & D)

Day 6: Sun., July 29 - After breakfast, we travel to the most southern tip of the island and cross over by passenger ferry to the tiny island of Iona. It is here that Columbo brought Christianity to Scotland. In the afternoon there is time to explore Tobermory, the Capital of the Isle of Mull. (B & D)

Day 7: Mon., July 30 - Today is a free day to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. (B & D)

Day 8: Tues., July 31 - This morning we depart the Isle of Mull and travel to Brora for our 2-night stay.  Our day includes travelling up the scenic Great Glen including a stop at the Spean Bridge to view the Commando Memorial. Our day includes a photo stop at Eilean Donan Castle, late lunch and a guided tour at Attadale
Gardens, located in Wester Ross. (B, L &D)

Day 9: Wed., Aug. 1 - Our adventure starts with a ferry trip from John O Groats located on the northeast tip of Scotland to the Orkney Islands. The islands encompass Neolithic sites, tall sandstone cliffs and seal colonies. Our visits include Stone Age village of Skara Brae, the Italian Chapel, the Standing Stones of Stenness, the Churchill Barriers, Scapa Flow and Kirkwall. This is a full day of excursions and therefore a late evening meal has been arranged at our hotel. (B & D)

Day 10: Thurs., Aug. 2 - This morning we travel south on the coast through Dornoch, Tain and Bonar Bridge to Drumnadrochit for a 2-night stay at the Loch Ness Lodge.  Our day includes a visit to Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands. (B & D)

Day 11: Fri., Aug. 3 - Enjoy a full day exploring the Isle of Skye. The beauty of this famous island has inspired movie makers, poets and visitors from all over the world. (B & D)

Day 12: Sat., Aug. 4 - This morning we travel the coastal route to Elgin, visit a local shortbread shop and Baxter’s Highland Village. We continue on to Pitlochry, stopping at Glennfiddich Distillery, one of the last family operated distilleries on the way. Our visit includes a tour of the Distillery and a chance to sample or purchase their fine products. (B & D)

Day 13: Sun., Aug. 5 - Enjoy a free day to explore the pretty town of Pitlochry on your own. (B & D)

Day 14: Mon., Aug. 6 - Today we explore the “Athens of the North”, the city of Edinburgh with a local guide. Enjoy free time on Princess Street prior to walking up the Royal Mile to attend the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo which takes place on the Esplanade of the Edinburgh Castle. Expect an unforgettable evening of music, ceremony, theatre and dance. After the performance, we travel to Ayr for a 2-night stay at the Carleton Hotel. (B)

Day 15: Tues., Aug. 7- This afternoon learn about Scotland’s famous bard,
Robert Burns by visiting the Burns Centre. Enjoy a scenic coastal drive on the Ayrshire Coast before returning to our hotel for our farewell dinner. (B & D)

Day 16: Wed., Aug. 8 -This morning we depart for the Glasgow Airport and our flight home. Our coach will be waiting for our arrival at Pearson International Airport to return us home. (B)

Tour includes: transfer by motor coach from Barrie & Bradford area to Pearson International Airport, return direct flights, departure taxes, airport baggage fees round trip, motor coach transportation with Hamilton Tours Director, 14 nights’ hotel accommodation, hotel taxes, baggage handling for 1 large suitcase each, 15 breakfasts, 1 lunch,
12 dinners, attractions and guided tours as listed in the itinerary, ferry crossings & HST EXEMPT.

Cost per person: Twin $6495.00 & Single $7695.00                                               

An initial deposit of $1500.00 is required at time of booking.

A second deposit of $2000.00 is due on April 16, 2018 with the balance due in full by June 1, 2018

Travel insurance is available through our office at the time of booking at an additional charge.
