Day 1: Sun., Aug. 9 - Our coach will transfer us to Pearson International Airport for our overnight flight to Glasgow. (D & B)
Day 2: Mon., Aug. 10 - This morning we arrive in Glasgow, meet our coach check in to our Edinburgh area hotel for a three night stay. (D)
Day 3: Tues., Aug. 11 - Today, we explore Edinburgh including admission to Edinburgh Castle, free time for shopping and detailed sightseeing of the Old Town’s Royal Mile, New Town’s Princess Street and George Street with a local guide. This evening we attend the spectacular Military Tattoo on the Esplanade of the magnificent and historic Edinburgh
Day 4: Wed., Aug. 12 - Today our visits include a visit to Rosslyn Chapel founded in 1446 as a place of worship. The Chapel has also been a popular destination for visitors for generations but interest increased after the publication of Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code, in 2003, and the subsequent film. Experience the beautiful scenery and learn the history of The Border Abbeys of Melrose, and Kelso. (B)
Day 5: Thurs. Aug. 13 - This morning we depart Edinburgh, travel through Stirling past Wallace’s monument, and continue northwards into the rugged mountains and forest-filled glens of the majestic Highlands. We travel through the Great Glen and along the length of Loch Ness to arrive early evening in Inverness, capital of the Highlands. We check in
to our hotel for a two night stay. (B & D)
Day 6: Fri., Aug. 14 - Today, we travel the Road to the Isles and make a stop to view Scotland’s most photographed castle, Eilean Donan before continuing on to the Isle of Skye. Enjoy the view of the beautiful Cuillin Hills and learn about the history of Skye. We return to the mainland and enjoy dinner at our hotel this evening. (B & D)
Day 7: Sat., Aug. 15 - This morning we depart Inverness and travel via Nairn and Elgin to Huntly. We visit Dean’s factory to discover how a local fund-raising activity grew to a global shortbread brand. We continue on to Aberdeen nicknamed the “Granite City” for a guided tour. Late afternoon, takes us southwards with a stop en-route to Glenfiddich Distillery
for a tour and tasting. We will be staying in Blairgowrie for the next 2 nights. (B & D)
Day 8: Sun., Aug. 16 - This morning, we visit Royal Deeside, a favourite retreat of Royalty. Ballater is a town where every shop has a by “Royal Appointment” coat of arms above its door. Visit Crathie Church where the Royal family worship while staying at Balmoral Castle. (B & D)
Day 9: Mon., Aug. 17 - Today, we travel south along the East coast via Perth through Arbroath, Carnoustie and St. Andrews with stops enroute. We overnight in the Glasgow. (B)
Day 10: Tues., Aug. 18 - Today, we travel the West Coast to Ayrshire, the birthplace of Scotland’s National bard, Robert Burns. After a visit to the Burns
Heritage Centre, we continue south. Our final stop in Scotland is the border town of Gretna Green, where generations of runaway couples came to be married. This evening we check in to our hotel in Penrith. (B & D)
Day 11: Wed., Aug. 19 - Travelling in the Lake District today we visit the charming village of Grasmere including poet William Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Windermere before we depart for Manchester and a two night stay. (B & D)
Day 12: Thurs., Aug. 20 - This morning we are off to visit Coronation Street.
Enjoy a studio tour of Britain’s long running television show. In the afternoon,
we travel to Liverpool, meet a local guide and visit “The Beatles Story,”
a Museum that tells the history of how Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr formed Liverpool’s most famous band. Our overnight stay is in historical Chester, which has a number of medieval buildings, and one of the best preserved walled cities in Britain. (B & D)
Day 13: Fri., Aug. 21 - Today, we travel to Bletchley Park and learn about the Code breakers. Once Britain’s Best-Kept Secret, it is a unique heritage site where visitors can experience the top-secret world of iconic WW2 Code breaking and the work of Alan Turing,
which was featured recently in the film “The Imitation Game”. In the afternoon, we travel to Stratford upon Avon.
Visits include Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and an overnight stay in Stratford upon Avon. (B & D)
Day 14: Sat., Aug. 22 - We spend the morning in the pretty Cotswold village of Chipping Campden and the town of Moreton-in-Marsh. We arrive in London late afternoon and enjoy dinner before checking in to our hotel. (B & D)
Day 15: Sun., Aug. 23 - We meet our local guide after breakfast and enjoy a full day exploring London. Enjoy visits to Westminster Abbey, Tower of London and enjoy an afternoon boat trip on the River Thames. Tonight we celebrate our visit with a farewell dinner at a local pub. (B & D)
Day 16: Mon., Aug. 24 - After breakfast, we travel to the airport for our flight to Toronto
