Springtime in Ottawa including the Canadian Tulip Festival, staying at the Fairmont, LeChateau Montebello
Tentative Itinerary:
Day 1: Mon., May 12 - The tour will depart from Barrie, Kozlov Mall at 7:30a.m., Tour Office at 8:00a.m. & Newmarket at 8:25a.m. (Overnight parking is available at our Tour Office.) We will travel to Ottawa where our first visit will be the newly named Canadian Museum of History, formerly the Museum of Civilization.   We will be staying at one of eastern Canada's leading destinations, Fairmont Le Château Montebello.  It is an exceptional Quebec resort famed for its rustic yet luxurious accommodations. For 40 years after its completion in 1930, the log château was the private retreat of the Seigniory Club, whose elite membership included reputed Canadian businessmen and politicians such as former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, and foreign dignitaries such as Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco. In 1970, the resort was taken over by Canadian Pacific Hotels, who re-named it Le Château Montebello, and opened its doors to the public for the first time. This evening enjoy a group dinner at the hotel.  (D)
Day 2: Tues., May 13 - This morning we will enjoy free time at the resort before departing at 11:30a.m. for Ottawa.  Every spring the nation's capital is a splash of colour created by an array of tulips.  The Dutch Royal family took refuge in Ottawa during World War II and they show their continued appreciation by sending Canada millions of tulip bulbs each year.  This afternoon’s highlights include: a guided tour of Ottawa including Dows Lake, a visit to the grounds of the Governor General’s Residence and the Parliament Buildings. (B)
Day 3: Wed., May 14 - Following breakfast and check out from the resort we will visit the R.C.M.P. Stables in Rockport, free time in the Byward Market over lunch and enjoy a Rideau Canal boat cruise. Return to Bradford will be approx. 9:00p.m. and Barrie at 9:30p.m. (B)
